The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is the political voice of the national environmental movement and works to turn environmental values into national priorities. We advocate for sound environmental policies and help elect pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies.
The League of Conservation Voters seeks a Campaigns Director to design and manage LCV's electoral campaigns..
General Description:
Works with the campaign team to create and manage LCV campaign strategies in support of the organizations
Specific (Essential) Responsibilities:
- Designs and manages electoral campaigns (including budget, staffing, timeline, research, paid & earned media plans, voter contact and other elements).
- Works with state leagues developing joint campaign plans and helps the state leagues with their state based political plans.
- Supervises the design and approves all written campaign materials including message components, earned media and voter contact.
- Manages the campaign team and consultants.
- Works with the SVP Political Affairs and Public Education on timing of endorsements, Dirty Dozen and campaigns.
- Responsible for coordinating efforts with candidates.
- Ensures compliance of all LCV campaign activities working with Legal and Finance divisions.
- Liaises with national political parties, national political organizations and other members of the political community, as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
- Campaigns Program Manager, interns and others as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: College degree in related field..
- Work experience: Eight years of campaign management experience, including experience in message development, paid and earned media and grassroots organizing; commitment to the environment.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on written skills; proficient with word processing and spreadsheets (Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint preferred). Knowledge of environmental issues desirable. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and make deadlines.
- Capabilities: Entrepreneurial focus; demonstrated coalition building skills; sound judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of teamwork; ability to handle multiple tasks; highly organized; interest in environmental issues desirable.
- Conditions: Ability to work overtime with little notice; use of own vehicle, able to work hours exceeding stated office hours to get the job done; ability to travel. This position is based in DC.
