Job Title: Campaigns Intern
Location: District of Columbia
Posting Date: 04/07/09

About the Internship: The internships we offer provide a comprehensive understanding of political work for environmental protection and the role that LCV plays as the independent political voice for the environment.  Interns support staff in the Campaigns, Communications, Development, and Policy and Lobbying Departments to influence legislation, educate voters on environmental issues and elect a pro-environment Congress and White House. The League of Conservation Voters internships provide a unique opportunity for exposure to a broad cross section of national environmental groups.

LCV Campaigns interns track candidate campaign developments and research candidates’ voting records. Interns will also follow key environmental issues that impact local politics for campaigns and provide research support for the Communications Department for press inquires. Interns research and prepare candidate information for staff, including environmental information found in LCV’s Congressional Questionnaire. They also seek and report new polling data on a daily basis. We especially seek interns who have good research, writing, communication and editing skills.

The internships are full-time positions for up to six months, and interns receive a stipend to defray expenses.   Interns are selected based on their education and experience with campaigns and political work, as well as their conservation interests.  We especially seek interns who have good research, writing, and editing skills.  Intern work is a mixture of programmatic work (writing, study, research) and administrative work (database entry, faxing, photocopying) with administrative work varying by department.

More About LCV: LCV works to turn environmental values into national priorities.  LCV is the independent political voice of the environment, and the only organization devoted full-time to advocating for sound environmental policies and electing pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies. LCV also works with colleges and universities to offer students the ability to earn college credit while working as an intern.  Check with your school to see if you are eligible.
