The Oregon League of Conservation Voters is a 34-year old nonpartisan nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate the public about how their elected officials vote on environmental issues and to hold them accountable.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our staff in December 2006 as Program and Communications Director.

Responsibility for two of our eight County Chapters. Chapter organizing involves recruiting, training, and work with volunteer steering committees to implement accountability and electoral programs, including candidate and volunteer recruitment, endorsements, and campaign and grassroots lobbying activities such as fundraising, canvassing, and phone banking.

Earned Media: Design and implementation of OLCV efforts to generate media coverage of our work in traditional media (print and broadcast). Work to enhance the general relationship between the environmental community and the media.

Internet Communications: This work will involve writing and design of OLCV’s twice per month email newsletter, efforts to generate OLCV links and coverage on other websites, maintenance and updating of OLCV’s website and oversight of OLCVs blog.

• Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers
• Experience on an election, lobbying campaign, or public education campaign
• Experience with email newsletters and/or website development/design
• Experience working with the media
• A demonstrated interest in environmental issues
• Superb one-on-one communication skills
• Strong computer skills, including experience with website maintenance, spreadsheets, databases, and graphic design

We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible and who would be willing to commit to OLCV at a minimum through the 2008 election. Some travel will be required within the state. Salary will be $32,000-$38000, depending on experience. OLCV offers excellent health, dental, and vision benefits.
