Primary responsibilities include: direct cultivation of a portfolio of 150-200 donors and major gift prospects; development of written materials for donor development and stewardship; and donor prospect research. This position works closely with a peer staff member and supports the Development Director, CEO, and Board members.

In addition, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for identifying and hosting donor cultivation and solicitation opportunities through individual meetings, small events, and integrated communications (online and print), working in partnership with the Development and Communications staff to build messaging and outreach.

This is a full-time position requiring occasional travel, evening, and weekend work. The benefit of this position will be the satisfaction of helping donors fulfill their passions and interests through their giving to CLCV and CLCVEF.

  • Identify donor engagement strategies for $2,500-$5,000 donors, in partnership with the Development Director, Political Director, and CEO.
  • Work with Communications and Political staff to secure project updates to use for personalized proposals that match donor interests and programmatic priorities, and for stewardship reports that detail progress made as a result of a specific funding source.
  • Prepare and implement a fundraising work plan each fiscal year, identifying activities and milestones to help achieve the larger revenue goals of the Development department.
  • Facilitate regular contact by CEO, Development Director, and Political Director of CLCV’s most important donors, including scheduling donor meetings and preparing solicitation materials.
  • Ensure appropriate donor recognition and benefits for all major donors; provide gift acknowledgements and stewardship reports for $5,000+ donors.
  • Provide regular updates in Raiser’s Edge and/or CallPro to reflect recent gifts and donor contact.
  • Provide logistical support and staffing for two major gala events each year.
  • In conjunction with senior staff, coordinate donor cultivation events, securing venues and speakers, and coordinating invitations and RSVPs.
  • Monitor and communicate status and needs of donor events to staff, board, and volunteers to create a shared sense of success for fundraising goals.
  • Meet, and seek to exceed, monthly and quarterly revenue and activity goals for meaningful contact with donors and successful solicitations.
