Big Clean Energy News in Idaho

By Cyrstal Rain, Conservation Voters for Idaho

Idaho Power, the state’s largest utility, just announced a commitment to 100% clean energy by 2045! This is huge. This is the first clean energy goal in the west and the most ambitious commitment from an investor-owned utility in the country, making Idaho a leader in the transition to clean energy.

Just one year ago, Conservation Voters for Idaho (CVI) launched our Clean Energy For All campaign with the goal of Idaho reaching 100% clean energy by 2050 and we applaud Idaho Power!

Through strategic local action to pressure state decision-makers, collaboration with partners and the support of CVI members, Idaho is now in a great position of making 100% clean energy in the whole state a reality. With the election of Brad Little as Governor and other statewide elected officials committed to clean energy, we not only proved that clean energy is politically viable but supported by the majority of Idahoans regardless of party. Other cities and counties in Idaho are already talking about acting on clean energy and this announcement will provide a pathway to ease that transition.

Here in Idaho, we’re eager to continue working to move our state to the bright and clean future that we all deserve!
