Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund and California LCV, which work to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today their endorsements of Representative Doris Matsui for re-election in California’s 6th Congressional District.

“Representative Doris Matsui is a leading voice for climate action in Congress as one of the co-chairs of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are thrilled to endorse her campaign because her experience and vision are so important as we work to build America’s clean energy future in the next Congress and beyond. Having champions like Representative Matsui is more critical than ever given the endless threats we face to our environment from the Trump administration.”

“We need more members of Congress like Doris Matsui,” said CLCV CEO Mary Creasman. “Whether it’s combating climate change, fighting against the Trump Administration’s rollbacks of our critical environmental laws, or working to stop the dismantling of the EPA, Matsui has proven time and time again that she stands wholeheartedly with the public and the environment. We applaud her for her 100% environmental score and are proud to endorse Congresswoman Matsui for re-election.”

“I am honored to receive the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and California LCV,” said Representative Doris Matsui. “They fight every day not only for the clean water that we drink and clean air that we breathe, but for future generations by addressing the issue of climate change head on.”

As a Co-Chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), Representative Doris Matsui has been one of the leading voices in Congress for clean energy innovation and job creation, environmental protection, and policies that will address global climate change. She has introduced legislation to support local clean energy businesses in the Sacramento region and reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. Representative Matsui has earned an excellent 97 percent lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
