Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Chris Pappas for Congress in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District.

“Chris Pappas is a proven leader who knows that investing in New Hampshire’s clean energy future will bring jobs and opportunity to the Granite State,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support his campaign because we know he will stand up to the Trump administration’s dangerous pro-polluter agenda and fight against efforts to drill for oil off the coast of New Hampshire.”

“We are proud to support Chris Pappas for Congress. Chris is firmly committed to a clean, renewable energy future that will promote economic growth and create jobs”, said League of Conservation Voters New Hampshire State Director Rob Werner.  “In contrast, his opponent denies the role of human impact on climate change and supports President Trump’s misguided decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.”

“I’m proud to be endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Executive Councilor Chris Pappas. “Climate Change is not only real, it is an existential threat to our planet, and it imposes a national security threat. We must take bold action to prevent its economic, environmental, and safety impacts here in New Hampshire and across the globe. As an Executive Councilor, I have been a strong supporter of greater investment in renewable energy, and I will continue that work in Congress.”

Chris Pappas was born and raised in Manchester and returned to New Hampshire after college to help run his family’s business, the Puritan Backroom Restaurant. He was first elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2002. In 2006, he successfully ran for Hillsborough County Treasurer and served two terms. In 2012, Pappas was elected to serve District 4 on the New Hampshire Executive Council, where he has been an strong supporter of investments in clean energy. In Congress he will focus on the continued growth of the Granite State’s clean energy economy, reducing our dependence on dirty fossil fuels, and stopping efforts to drill off the coast of New Hampshire.
