Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Greg Stanton for Congress (AZ-9).

“Greg Stanton has a proven record of prioritizing sustainability and conservation.” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “As mayor of Phoenix, Stanton has set ambitious climate action goals and has taken steps to make Phoenix a leader in solar energy. We need more leaders like Greg Stanton in Congress who will make a clean energy future the reality and we are proud to endorse him.”

“As Mayor of Phoenix, I’ve worked to build a sustainable economy by incentivizing green jobs, defending our environment, and supporting a clean energy future,” said Greg Stanton. “To do the same in Congress, I’ll need partners like the League of Conservation Voters. I’m very proud to have the support of LCV Action Fund and look forward to working with them for years to come.”

Greg Stanton is currently serving in his second term as the mayor of Phoenix where he has been a leader on environmental issues on both the local and national level. During his tenure as mayor, he passed a climate action plan that set a goal of being a carbon-neutral city by 2050. When the Trump administration announced it was withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, Stanton was one of the first mayors in the country to announce that his city would remain committed to the standards set by the agreement. In Congress, he will continue to champion climate action and conservation.
