Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Harley Rouda for Congress in California’s 48th Congressional District.

“LCV Action Fund is thrilled to endorse Harley Rouda because we know he will be a champion for California’s coast and a clean energy future,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He is committed to taking action to combat the climate crisis, stop the Trump Administration’s proposed offshore drilling expansion, and invest in our clean energy economy. We know his experience as a business and community leader will make him an important voice in Congress for smart solutions to the most pressing challenges we face.”

“We are proud to support Harley Rouda for Congress. Harley is firmly committed to a clean, renewable energy future and will be a stalwart protector of our precious coastline and beaches. We know he will be an amazing public servant, “said California League of Conservation Voters CEO Mary Creasman. “In contrast, his opponent wants to expand offshore oil drilling and has a decades long record of choosing corporate polluters over the values of his constituents.”

“I’m honored to be endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Harley Rouda. “As a community, we must focus on choosing clean energy over the fossil fuels of the past. Our neighborhoods, our nation, our planet is beset by climate crisis and the time to act is now. Also, as a businessman, I know firsthand that protecting the environment and supercharging economic growth are not mutually exclusive goals. That’s why I’m working with local leaders on a plan to make Orange County a clean tech capital of the world.”

Harley Rouda lives in Laguna Beach, California. He has worked with cutting edge tech companies such as: Stuffster, an app company that helps people put more money in their pockets and less trash in landfills by creating an easy way to resell unused belongings; Grayl, a company that has created an easy-to-use, portable water filter that reduces the need for environmentally harmful plastic water bottles; and Realstir, a website that puts more decision-making power in the hands of people looking to buy a home. Rouda is active in numerous charities and civic organizations helping fight homelessness, domestic violence, and human rights offenders; supporting education for the disadvantaged as well as supporting access to higher education; saving military jobs; and working with myriad civic organizations and businesses to drive economic development. In Congress he will prioritize bringing clean energy jobs to Southern California and preventing offshore drilling along the California coast.
