Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of J.D. Scholten for Congress in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.

“J.D. Scholten will stand up for clean air and water for every Iowan,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to stand with his campaign and look forward to working with him to support Iowa’s continued leadership in wind energy, reduce the carbon pollution that is fueling the climate crisis and protect the health and future of Hawkeye farmers and families.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said J.D. Scholten. “As an Iowan, I have a tremendous appreciation for the importance of our land. Conservation and water quality need to be priorities because it is our land that sustains so many here at home, and around the world. In Congress, I look forward to working with the LCV and will be a champion for protecting our environment and our family farms for the generations to come.”

J.D. Scholten is a fifth-generation Iowan who was born in Ames and grew up in Sioux City. He graduated from the University of Nebraska where he led the school’s baseball team to the College World Series. After college Scholten played baseball professionally and worked as a litigation paralegal during the offseason. In Congress, he will prioritize protecting rural Iowa’s air, water and lands, while working to further grow the clean energy economy in the Hawkeye State.
