Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Kathy Manning for election to the U.S. House from North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District.

“Kathy Manning has worked to advance the well-being of North Carolinians and we know she will continue this fight in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund SVP of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support her election because she is committed to protecting all communities from the impacts of the climate crisis and other environmental injustices faced by communities of color in North Carolina and across the country.”

“North Carolinians deserve leaders in Congress who will fight for people instead of polluters and Kathy Manning has made it clear she will do just that,” said Dan Crawford, Director of Governmental Relations at North Carolina League of Conservation Voters. “We know she will be a voice of reason against offshore drilling and harmful coal ash and bring fresh ideas to Washington in support of clean energy for all.”

“In Congress, I’ll fight for clean air and water, and champion clean energy development to create jobs in the 6th District and around the country,” said Kathy Manning. “I’ll also work to protect communities that are hardest hit by the negative impacts of climate change. I’m proud to continue this work in partnership with LCV Action Fund and to earn their endorsement to the U.S. House.”

Kathy Manning grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Harvard University and received her law degree from Michigan Law School. Upon graduating from law school in 1987, she moved with her husband to his hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina. She served as a partner at a major law firm for 16 years, and then started her own small business. Manning then led one of the largest charitable organizations in the world where she worked on issues including job retraining, mortgage assistance, and healthcare for people who lost jobs during the recession. She has also worked on economic development issues in the Greensboro area including the building of a new performing arts center. Manning was the Democratic nominee for North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District in 2018 and was endorsed by LCV Action Fund.
