Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Katie Hill for Congress in California’s 25th District.

“LCV Action Fund is thrilled to endorse Katie Hill for Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “She is a dedicated leader in her community who is committed to addressing the climate crisis head on. We need her voice in Congress fighting for the clean energy future we all deserve and look forward to working with her.”

“CLCV is proud to support Katie Hill for Congress,” said California League of Conservation Voters CEO Mary Creasman. “Katie will fight for clean air and clean water, and will defend our public lands. We know she will represent her community’s interests and values well and not be beholden to polluters unlike her opponent.”

“In my district, pollution and climate change aren’t just environmental issues, they’re health and safety issues as well,” said Katie Hill. “I look forward to working with LCV and CLCV to champion our environment, because our families and communities need clean air, water, and a non-toxic food supply so we can flourish for generations to come.”

Katie Hill was raised in Los Angeles County, California. She received her B.A. and Master’s in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge. After graduating, she went to work at People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), a non-profit developing affordable and supportive places for people to live, where she rose to become Executive Director. She grew the organization from a local focus and a $5 million budget to the largest non-profit provider of homes for the homeless in the state of California, operating with yearly operations of over $50 million. She helped champion and pass historic ballot initiatives Measure H and Prop HHH to help alleviate homelessness in Los Angeles County. In Congress, Hill will focus on the transition to 100% clean energy and addressing the climate crisis.

In contrast, her opponent Steve Knight has consistently voted against California’s clean energy economy and protections that are critical to clean air, safe drinking water, and a stable climate. He has earned an abysmal 3% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. Representative Knight has denied climate science and failed to vote for commonsense climate solutions, despite the fact that his constituents in the 25th district are seeing the impact of climate change every day. In addition, Representative Knight has consistently opposed protections for America’s lands and waters, repeatedly voting for more drilling and fewer safeguards.
