LCV ACTION FUND ENDORSES PENNSYLVANIA ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPIONS SENATOR CASEY & REPRESENTATIVE CARTWRIGHT

Oct 23, 2017

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsements of Senator Bob Casey for re-election to the U.S. Senate and Representative Matt Cartwright for re-election to the U.S. House (PA-8). Both Senator Casey and Congressman Cartwright are champions of clean energy jobs for Pennsylvanians, fighting climate change, and defending commonsense environmental and public health protections.

“Both Senator Casey and Representative Cartwright have been strong advocates for Pennsylvanians and our environment,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “They are standing up to the Trump administration’s relentless attacks on the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the lands we cherish and fighting for the health and well-being of their constituents in the face of powerful fossil fuel industries.”

“Senator Casey and Representative Cartwright are two shining examples of the best kind of environmental leadership in Pennsylvania,” said Josh McNeil of Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania.  “Their dedication to a healthier Commonwealth should be an example to the rest of our state’s leaders that protecting clean air and clean water for our families is both the right and the popular thing to do.”

“From combating climate change to protecting public lands, I’m proud to stand with the League of Conservation Voters as we work to safeguard our natural treasures in Pennsylvania and around the country. Responsible environmental stewardship is essential for a healthy public and a healthy economy. I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and I look forward to continuing our work together to fight for clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment,” said Senator Bob Casey.

Senator Casey has stood up to special interests to ensure Pennsylvania families have access to clean air and clean water. He has also worked tirelessly to make sure that the public lands that are integral pieces of the Keystone State’s heritage are protected for future generations of Pennsylvanians. Senator Casey has earned a 91 percent lifetime score on the League of Conservation Voters’ National Environmental Scorecard.

“Protecting the environment has always been one of my top priorities in Congress; as a member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, I have seen how the League of Conservation Voters is a great partner and advocate for pro-environment values,” said Representative Matt Cartwright. “I am committed to protecting our planet, creating good jobs in my region, and ensuring that our children and grandchildren have a healthy and sustainable environment in which to live.”

Representative Cartwright is steadfast advocate for Pennsylvania’s growing renewable energy economy and protecting public health safeguards for clean air and water. He has opposed all Congressional attacks on climate science, public lands protections, and the military’s ability to plan for climate change. He has earned a 97 percent lifetime score on the League of Conservation Voters’ National Environmental Scorecard.

Casey and Cartwright are featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions for federal office. Last cycle, LCV Action Fund raised more direct contributions to candidates through GiveGreen than ever before—over 8.3 million for state and federal candidates.
