Washington, D.C.- Following Colorado Senator Cory Gardner’s vote last week to confirm oil and gas lobbyist David Bernhardt as Secretary of the Interior, the League of Conservation Voters today announced the launch of $15,000 in digital ads criticizing Gardner for his vote. LCV opposed Bernhardt’s nomination, because of his dangerous record and extensive conflicts of interest.

The ads, which will run on Facebook and Instagram starting today, will highlight Bernhardt’s dangerous record and clear conflicts of interest and prompt Coloradans to register their disappointment in Gardner’s vote with his office.

“Senator Gardner can’t claim to be a champion for western values in one moment and then turn around and vote to sell out our public lands in the next,” said LCV SVP of Campaigns Pete Maysmith. “David Bernhardt has supported risky oil and gas drilling on treasured places, shrinking our national monuments, and zeroing out funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund. He has no business running the department that is responsible for our parks, water, and wildlife. Coloradans are paying attention and they’re going to remember this vote.”
