Charlotte, NC — Today, the Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) announced that they will be investing in and mobilizing their members to help elect Dan McCready in the special election for North Carolina’s 9th congressional district. The groups will be contacting their members to help elect McCready. The special election is being held after the 2018 results were not certified due to election fraud on behalf of Republican candidate Mark Harris’s campaign.

“The Sierra Club is proud to once again work to elect Dan McCready to Congress,” said Sarah Burton, PAC Director for the Sierra Club. “His commitment to serve the people of North Carolina’s 9th district and tackle the climate crisis is unmatched, and we look forward to electing him on September 10th.”

“Dan McCready has been a leader on solar energy in North Carolina,” said LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We need to elect more public servants like McCready, who recognize the economic, health and national security risks associated with climate change. McCready is a strong advocate for climate action and creating clean energy jobs. We are thrilled to be mobilizing our members to elect him.”

Sierra Club and LCV Action Fund have endorsed McCready.  Organizers will be contacting Sierra Club and LCV members to volunteer on his behalf to mobilize voters in the special election and lifting up his success building solar farms and commitment to a clean energy future.

In addition, Environmental Defense Action Fund, National Wildlife Federation Action Fund, and NRDC Action Fund will also be supporting these efforts by contacting their members and encouraging them to volunteer for the McCready campaign.
