Washington, D.C. — The League of Conservation Voters released the following statement on the confirmation process of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh:

“LCV opposed Brett Kavanaugh from the day he was nominated because his record on the bench represents a direct threat to our health, our environment and our future. From questioning the EPA’s authority to protect public health to favoring corporations over safety, he’s sided with polluters over people time and time again.

“As an organization committed to the health and safety of all people, we also believe it is important to take allegations of sexual assault extremely seriously — never more so than when a lifetime appointment to the nation’s highest court is at stake. LCV condemns sexual harassment and sexual violence of any kind and we believe that, like all survivors, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford deserves to be respected and heard. The Senate should not consider or vote on this lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court without first allowing a fair, thorough and safe process for the full story to be told.”
