Washington, D.C. – In anticipation of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee vote on Rex Tillerson’s nomination for Secretary of State, LCV President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“Rex Tillerson is the poster child for Trump’s rigged cabinet. No matter how he tries to distance himself from the company, Rex Tillerson and ExxonMobil are one and the same, creating an unprecedented conflict of interest. His deeply disturbing record leading a company that put corporate profits ahead of public health and which investigative reports show misled the public by funding organizations that promote climate change denial should completely disqualify him from being Secretary of State. We strongly urge the Senate to reject his nomination and stand up for the American people and climate action – not oil company shareholders.”

Today, LCV also sent the following letter to Senators urging them to vote against Tillerson’s nomination, which you can find online here.
