Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters released the following statement on Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley scheduling the Supreme Court nomination hearing for Brett Kavanaugh for the week of September 4. The National Archives has determined that they won’t be able to complete the Republican record request until late October.

From Judiciary Program Director Ben Driscoll:

“Senate Republicans are rushing to rubberstamp Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination before we’ll have the opportunity to review his extensive White House record. Senators and the public as a whole deserve to know the extent of Kavanaugh’s involvement in the Bush administration’s troubling environmental decisions, including the corrupt Cheney Energy Task Force, hiding evidence of climate change, and the opening up of millions of acres of public land for mining and drilling.

“This is one of the least transparent nominations in modern history. What are they hiding?”
