Washington, DC: In response to Governor Terry McAuliffe’s new Executive Directive to cut carbon pollution from power plants in Virginia, League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“This is what bold leadership looks like. Governor McAuliffe’s action demonstrates the power states have to create a clean energy future. The Governor’s plan to tackle carbon emissions from Virginia’s dirty power plants continues his work building a clean energy future for the Commonwealth. In the face of dangerous rollbacks of clean air protections from the Trump Administration, Governor McAuliffe’s directive is one more example of state leaders moving forward to protect against rising seas and ensure their residents breathe cleaner air.
