Washington, D.C. – In response to the release of the final EPA and NHSTA Phase 2 Heavy Duty Truck Efficiency Rule, LCV Vice President for Government Affairs Sara Chieffo issued the following statement:

“The release of these final heavy-duty truck fuel efficiency standards are another key piece of President Obama’s climate leadership legacy. The product of work completed by both the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this rule is the most comprehensive effort ever to improve how far heavy duty vehicles go on a gallon of diesel and to cut carbon pollution from these vehicles. These critical standards will also help cut oil use and save businesses and consumers money as trucking fuel costs impact almost everything we buy.”
