Washington, D.C. – Following EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s second proposal to repeal the Clean Water Rule, which protects drinking water for 117 million people, the League of Conservation Voters released the following statement from Legislative Representative Madeleine Foote:

“Scott Pruitt can dress this up however he wants but the end result is the same — he’s eliminating the drinking water protections of 1 in 3 people. Having clearly failed in his first attempt to justify repealing the Clean Water Rule, his second go-around to discredit the strong legal and scientific basis underpinning these popular protections will not be any more successful. With every new scandal and every new proposal to slash our clean water, air, climate, and other environmental and public health protections, it is abundantly clear that Pruitt’s sole mission at the EPA is to benefit corporate polluters at the expense of our families and our communities. He’s throwing dirty water onto our July 4th celebration and it’s time to abandon this ridiculous repeal and finally protect the waterways we all depend on.”
