Washington, D.C. — In response to the Trump administration’s conflicting messages around the 2020 Census, the League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement from LCV President Gene Karpinski:

“Trump’s back and forth about a citizenship question on the 2020 Census undermines the integrity of our Democratic systems. Now more than ever, it is important that all communities participate to have a fair and accurate 2020 Census.

“We will not back down until every community is fully counted in the 2020 Census and we have fair representation at all levels of government. An accurate count will protect our families’ health and provide critical resources like clean drinking water, wildlife preservation, and natural disaster and hurricane prevention funds as climate change continues to disproportionately impact the communities at risk of being disenfranchised by Trump’s racist tactics.”
