Washington D.C. – LCV Victory Fund congratulates Andy Kim on his victory in New Jersey’s 3rd congressional district. LCV Victory Fund partnered with other leading environmental groups to invest more than $1 million to defeat incumbent Tom MacArthur.

“We are thrilled that Andy Kim is headed to Congress,” said Gene Karpinski, LCV President. “We look forward to working with him to bring clean energy jobs to the Garden State and take action to protect the Jersey shore from rising sea levels and the urgent threat of climate change.”

LCV Victory Fund ran a TV ad highlighting MacArthur’s record of gutting critical environmental protections. The $1 million campaign was in partnership with EDF Action, Environment America Action Fund and Clean Water Action, and also included digital ads and door-to-door canvassing.

MacArthur was one of the first candidates named to the iconic Dirty Dozen because of his record of undermining public health and climate action in Congress.

Environmental donors contributed more than $300,000 to New Jersey candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $21 million for the 2018 cycle.

LCV Action Fund endorsed Kim because of his commitment to taking action to fight the climate crisis and to defending crucial environmental protections. LCV Action Fund also endorsed New Jersey U.S. House candidates Josh Gottheimer, Tom Malinowski and Mikie Sherrill.
