Washington D.C. – LCV Victory Fund congratulates Maria Cantwell and Kim Schrier on their wins Tuesday. LCV Victory Fund invested over $1 million in Washington’s 8th congressional district and environmental donors contributed nearly $500,000 for Washington candidates through GiveGreen.

“Washington has a strong tradition of environmental leadership, and voters once again decided to send strong champions for our air, water and lands to Congress,” said Gene Karpinski, LCV President. “We look forward to working with the Washington delegation to fight the climate crisis and protect our planet for future generations.”

LCV Victory Fund ran a TV ad in the 8th congressional district, our largest single investment in a House race. LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program also turned out voters for both Schrier and Cantwell as part of a nationwide field program that engaged nearly 1,500 volunteers.

Environmental donors contributed nearly $200,000 to Cantwell’s campaign via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $21 million for the 2018 cycle.

LCV Action Fund endorsed Cantwell and Schrier because they will represent all Washingtonians and fight for our environment. LCV Action Fund also endorsed Lisa Brown, Carolyn Long, Pramila Jayapal and Adam Smith.

Additionally, Washington Conservation Voters and related entities invested over $850,000 to elect environmental leaders to the state legislature.
