Washington, D.C. – LCV Victory Fund today released a new TV ad highlighting how Rep. David Young is out of step with Iowa’s third congressional district. The nearly $400,000 ad will air in Des Moines and Omaha markets and focus on how Young has voted against clean air, clean water and other protections for people’s health.

WATCH: “Washington Tricks”

“We need a leader in Washington who is focused on protecting Iowans back at home,” said Pete Maysmith, LCV Victory Fund Senior Vice President for Campaigns. “In Congress, Young has consistently voted to attack protections for clean air and clean water instead of putting the health and safety of his constituents first.”

Young has earned an abysmal 3 percent LCV score every year he has been in Congress, voting dozens of times annually to reject conservation and public health measures. This is LCV Victory Fund’s first TV ad in Iowa this year.

LCV Action Fund has endorsed Cindy Axne in the race because of her proven track record of creating good-paying clean energy jobs in Iowa.

A script of the ad can be found below, and research backup is available here.

“Washington Tricks”

Congressman Young fancies himself a magician. But his Washington tricks are troubling.

Young tried to gut common-sense environmental protections — allowing big corporations to spew more toxic pollution — which could lead to more asthma attacks, even cancer.

And Young voted to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions, like asthma and cancer.

Congressman Young. Washington tricks. We pay the price.
