Our 1998 Dirty Dozen campaigns targeted for defeat 13 of the most vulnerable, anti-environment Congressional candidates in races where our efforts could provide the winning margin of difference. The LCV Action Fund ran intense grassroots and media campaigns to inform voters about the anti-environment voting records of these Dirty Dozen candidates. Our 1998 Dirty Dozen effort resulted in the largest "hard money" expenditure in history on behalf of the environment. LCV Action Fund spent over $2.3 million in the 13 targeted races. Each specific campaign was tailored to the particular district, the dynamics of the race, and the anti-environment voting record of the candidates.
