The League of Conservation Voters worked to get the message out to voters about Chenoweth's extreme anti-environment record and turn out conservation-minded voters on Election Day.

Helen Chenoweth may have survived her race for a final term, but the League of Conservation Voters will continue to hold her accountable for her anti-environment record in Congress.

Although the environment played an important role in the campaign; unfortunately, it wasn't enough to unseat an incumbent with a powerful conservative base of supporters who turned out strongly at the polls.

Dirty Dozen Campaign Activities:
Total budget: $220,000. Directed by a full-time campaign manager in Boise, the campaign focused on turning out identified pro-environment "green voters" at the polls. Because our polling showed that remarkably few voters remained undecided in late August, LCV turned our organizing and earned media efforts towards GOTV. LCV Action Fund had an organizer heading up a Hispanic voter registration effort and GOTV program in Canyon County; organizers in the Coeur d'Alene area and on the campus at the University of Idaho in Moscow registered voters and leafleted key districts. In Boise, an LCVAF organizer and environmental volunteers walked districts and leafleted.

We built a list of identified pro-environment voters and supplemented our volunteer efforts with 24,000 pieces of mail urging identified "green voters" to vote against Chenoweth, followed by 12,000 paid phone calls, 7,000 volunteer phone calls, and 5,000 leaflets distributed. In addition, we aired 109 television ads (over 600 "GRPs") in the Spokane media market reminding conservation-minded voters that Chenoweth voted to sell public lands to mining companies for $5 an acre and allow them to extract minerals for free, and that she took over $200,000 from anti-environment Polluter PACs.
