Two Powerful Ways to Get Involved This Earth Day

As the global warming crisis continues to worsen, we cannot sit back and wait for our leaders to take aggressive action.  That's why LCV is partnering with our friends at the Earth Day Network to make sure our elected officials act NOW to solve most serious environmental problem we face.  Here are two ways you can get involved:

Be Seen…
On Sunday April 20, hundreds of thousands of citizens will gather in eight of the nation's landmark parks for Earth Day events to demand action on global warming. Click on each city below for more information:

 Chicago

 Denver

Miami

San Francisco

 Dallas

 Los Angeles

 New York

 Washington, DC

…and Heard
The Call for Climate campaign aims to generate an unprecedented number of calls on Tuesday, April 22 to issue a global warming wake-up call that they can't ignore. Please mark your calendar to make your call on Earth Day:

WHO:   Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to your S
enator or Representative
    WHEN:  Tuesday April 22
WHAT TO SAY:  Tell the legislative staffer who answers that:

  • As a constituent, I am calling to ask that Congress take action now on the most serious environmental problem we face: global warming.
  • The global warming crisis is continuing to worsen, and scientists have warned that if we don't act now, some of the worst effects are less than ten years away.
  • In order to make a real difference, we must enact legislation that reduces global warming pollution 80% by 2050.

This Earth Day we will see one of the biggest campaigns to demand an end to global warming.  We hope you can take part in one or both of these historic events to bring about immediate action before it’s too late.
