During her twenty years as a State Representative in the North Carolina General Assembly, Alma Adams has been a champion for the middle class and supported legislation to help consumers secure loans for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Her environmental record has earned her a lifetime score of 84% from the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters. Prior to serving in the state legislature, Adams was a member of the Greensboro City Council.
In Congress, Adams is committed to addressing climate change and increasing the use of renewable energy. Adams will also advocate expanding public transportation.
Adams fills the seat previously held by Mel Watt, who was appointed to serve as Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Watt received a lifetime score of 92% on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
