House : Nebraska 02

Brad Ashford is a fifth generation Nebraskan with a long track record of working across party lines. During his 16 years in the Nebraska Unicameral legislature, Ashford developed a reputation of bringing together disparate parties. During college, Ashford worked for Republican U.S. Senator Roman Hruska.

Ashford is committed to protecting Nebraska’s natural resources and the vibrant economy that they support. As a state legislator, Ashford voted to authorize an environmental study of the proposed route for the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.

In Congress, Ashford will work to safeguard our environment and support the expansion of our clean energy economy. He supports the tax credits that have encouraged the wind and solar industries to bring clean energy jobs to Nebraska.

Ashford joins the U.S. House after defeating Representative Lee Terry, who received a lifetime score of 9% on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard through 2013.

In his own words:

“I have always fought tirelessly to protect our environment and conserve our natural resources with commonsense policies that consider the impact to our businesses and our communities. I promise to always apply that same commonsense approach in Washington."
