Throughout his career, Denny Heck has been a champion for the environment. Heck served as a State Representative for 10 years, where he ascended to the position of House Majority Leader. Heck served as Governor Booth Gardner’s Chief of Staff, playing pivotal roles in the passage of the Growth Management Act and Washington State’s Clean Air Act. Heck believes strongly in the need to address climate change and clean-up Puget Sound. In Congress, he vows to defend the Clean Water Act and other environmental protections.
Heck recognizes that protecting the environment and growing the economy go hand in hand. He has a proven track record as a successful small business owner, including helping to found and run TVW, which promotes open government by covering the Washington State Legislature and sessions of the Washington Supreme Court. Heck has pledged to actively promote growing the clean energy economy and fight to eliminate taxpayer-funded handouts to Big Oil.
Heck joins the U.S. House as the Representative for the newly created 10th District of Washington.
In his own words:
"The debate on climate change is long over – it’s real and mankind is contributing to it. We need to be responsible stewards of our planet and ensure that our actions do not cause long-term damage to our planet. Future generations deserve to inherit the same Earth we did."
