Gwen Graham began her career working on energy and environmental issues in the private sector and will bring that expertise and commitment with her to Congress.
Graham credits her father, former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator Bob Graham with instilling in her a commitment to working together to solve the challenges facing our country. Most recently, she has demonstrated her abilities as a pragmatic problem solver as the chief negotiator for the Leon County School District.
Her early career experience as an energy and environmental attorney has helped inform her deep appreciation for Florida’s environment and the connection between a healthy environment and a strong economy. Graham is committed to protecting Florida’s coastline and the Apalachicola River and Bay system. She believes that we have a responsibility to future generations to pass on a clean environment and preserve special places.
Graham joins the U.S. House after defeating Representative Steve Southerland, who has a lifetime score of 5% on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard through 2013, earning him a spot on LCV’s Dirty Dozen campaign this election cycle.
In her own words:
“Like so many in North Florida, I grew up exploring our beautiful natural treasures. Our air, land and water are part of our heritage – and like my father before me, I want to protect these irreplaceable natural resources for my children and their children.”
