Tuesday afternoon the League of Conservation Voters let the entire Democratic Party know that we have one of the nation's most organized campaigns through an environmental rally for Kerry and Edwards.
Nearly 500 people and dozens of press organizations showed up at Christopher Columbus Park to hear our President, Deb Callahan, Representative Dingle from Michigan, Representative Inslee from Washington, Representative Blumenauer from Oregon, and the keynote speaker, Illinois State Senator Barack Obama. These speakers made it clear the environment is a key issue for the Democratic Party, and it is one issue where there is certainly no confusing the stances of Bush and Kerry.
Among all the many different voices at this Convention, it has become our mission to make sure that all the delegates who come here this week leave knowing that not only is there a campaign centered around the environment, but that that campaign easily challenges all other national efforts with its focus, it's energy, and it's success. If today's rally is any indication, we are spreading that message around Boston and it is being received loud and clear.
