Today marks the 100th straight legislative day, excluding the government shutdown that Representatives from the Safe Climate Caucus (SCC) have spoken on the House floor about the urgent need to act on climate change.

The SCC was formed in February 2013 as a way to facilitate conversations in the House of Representatives about the climate crisis we are facing. There are more than 30 Members of Congress who are part of the SCC, and they represent 19 states across the country. Together, these members stand up every day that Congress is in session to call attention on the House floor to the far-reaching impacts of climate change and the benefits of taking action.

Representative Henry Waxman, founder and chair of the SCC, spoke this morning about the extreme weather we are facing and our moral obligation to take action to combat the climate crisis. Watch Representative Waxman’s full floor speech here:

Other members of the SCC, including Representatives Lois Capp, Doris Matsui, John Garamendi and Matt Cartwright also spoke on the House floor today to demand that we take action on climate change. Click here to watch all of the previous Safe Climate Caucus speeches.
