Senators Jeanne Shaheen, Democrat of New Hampshire, and Rob Portman, Republican of Ohio introduced an energy efficiency bill today that will help American families and businesses save money by using less energy, create jobs, and reduce climate change pollution. This bipartisan legislation, the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act, has garnered widespread support from groups ranging from the National Association of Manufacturers to the Natural Resources Defense Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to the Business Council for Sustainable Energy.

The bill includes measures to help make homes and commercial buildings more energy efficient, and assists manufacturers in reducing their energy usage. It also helps grow our economy by spurring investments in research, development, and commercialization of new energy efficient technologies, and saves taxpayer dollars by requiring that the nation’s biggest energy consumer—the federal government—becomes more energy efficient.

Make sure to thank Senators Shaheen and Portman for putting forward a commonsense energy efficiency bill that puts money back in your pocket and creates jobs. Also, encourage your U.S. Senators and Representative to support this bill; you can click here to search for your federal delegation.
