“Downright False” AEA Ad

02 Apr 2012  |   Lea Brumfield

The Washington Post today ran a fact-check on the $3.6 million television ad recently released by the Big Oil-funded American Energy Association.

Notable debunked statements included the claim that Obama rejected the Keystone XL pipeline “so we all pay more at the pump.” The White House has stated the rejection was to allow environmental review of a project with the possibility of endangering the sensitive Nebraska Sandhills.

The Washington Post concluded that “None of the claims in this ad are entirely true, and some are downright false,” giving the AEA a rating for “Significant factual error and/or obvious contradictions.”
