According to a recent study conducted by the Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) at the University of Massachusetts, the EPA's efforts to reduce carbon pollution will create an estimated 1.46 million jobs over the next five years.

Among the 36 states included in the report, Illinois (122,695), Virginia (123,014), Tennessee (113,138), North Carolina (76,966), and Ohio (76,240) will see the largest gains in jobs.

The PERI study suggests that EPA safeguards will invest nearly $200 billion in capital improvements, resulting in the generation of an extensive range of job opportunities, including project managers, engineers, iron workers, electricians, millwrights, pipefitters, and boilermakers.
