Former U.S. Senator John W. Warner, a Republican from Virginia, is touring the nation to promote clean energy policy and defend the EPA from the recent attacks in Congress and from GOP Presidential hopefuls, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The Senator—who, along with Vice Admiral Dennis V. McGinn, vice chairman of the CNA Military Advisory Board and president of the American Council on Renewable Energy, has toured 32 cities in 28 states to promote clean energy standards—says that recent attempts in Congress to prevent the EPA from enforcing the Clean Air Act and other measures are unwarranted. "The Environmental Protection Agency is exactly what is in the name–to protect us from our own devices," Warner said.
While in office Senator Warner maintained a lifetime score of 22% on the LCV Environmental Scorecard.
