Today, the House Democrats' Steering and Policy Committee held a hearing on "creating jobs now in America, protecting the taxpayer, and securing our energy future" according to the blog of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

In particular, today's hearing focused on freeing up funds for clean energy jobs by eliminating subsidies for oil companies. According to Minority Leader Pelosi, "Democrats in Congress are focused on America's top priority: creating jobs."

Among today's witnesses were Drew Sloan of the Truman National Security Project, Ryan Alexander of Taxpayers for Common Sense, Deron Lovass of the NRDC and Tom Carnahan of the Wind Capital Group. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) told The New York Times that "there will probably be more" hearings along these lines during the 112th Congress.
