At the request of ranking Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Energy and Power Subcommittee, agreed to hold a hearing on climate science next week.

The request reflects an attempt to address the climatic implications of legislation proposed by House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (MI-06), which endeavors to prohibit the EPA from protecting our air against harmful carbon pollution.

The hearing scheduled for Tuesday will examine two new scientific reports linking climate change to extreme weather conditions. Thus far, not a single scientist has been invited to testify on Rep. Upton's bill.
