Today, the House Energy and Power Subcommittee favorably reported the Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011 to the full Energy and Commerce Committee.

The bill, introduced by Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), prohibits the Environmental Protection Agency from safeguarding against harmful carbon pollution.

The subcommittee approved the bill by a voice vote, with no amendments added.

Rep. Upton's bill represents a serious assault on public health, as it allows dirty coal and other industry polluters to dump hazardous toxins into the air we breathe.
