Today, the House Oversight Committee is holding a hearing on the domestic production of oil and gas where they will once again call EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson to testify.
Unfortunately, several Members of Congress are prefacing the hearing with a number of misleading and inaccurate statements.
That shouldn't be surprising, considering the amount of oil and gas industry money that members of the House Oversight Committee have accepted. Chairman Darrel Issa (R-CA) is the largest recipient on the committee, having raked in $140,350 from the employees and PACs of the oil and gas industry. Rep. James Lankford (R-OK) is the second biggest recipient of oil and gas money on the committee, having raised nearly $120,000 from the industry in 2010.
Overall, House Oversight Committee members have taken nearly $1.2 million in oil and gas money during their time in Congress.
