Koch Brothers Ramping Up Political Spending

11 Feb 2011  |   Damien Shirley

The Koch brothers are looking to significantly expand their political footprint in next year's elections.

According to Politico, the Koch brothers plan to contribute $88 million to conservative causes in the 2012 election cycle, including funding for a voter microtargeting initiative, grassroots organizing efforts and television advertising campaigns.

Last month, Rolling Stone listed the Koch brothers as #2 on their list of 12 politicians and executives who are blocking progress on global warming, calling them "America's leading funders of the climate-disinformation machine" and citing their "sprawling empire of oil refineries and pipelines."
