Yesterday, Pennsylvania voters ousted the Dirty Dozen member Rep. Tim Holden (PA-17) in the Democratic primary for the seat, voting instead for Matt Cartwright, a candidate endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.

As part of the largest independent expenditure campaign in this race, the League of Conservation Voters launched a $230,000 television ad campaign in Pennsylvania targeting Rep. Tim Holden (PA-17) for supporting Bush-era policies and protecting polluters in his state. (View the ad here: Additionally, LCV conducted over 20,000 live phone calls to likely primary voters in the district.

“LCV targeted Representative Tim Holden for defeat explicitly because he has opposed policies that will curb harmful global warming pollution and build a clean energy economy,” said Gene Karpinski, president of the League of Conservation Voters. “Tim Holden is the first candidate this cycle to lose because he is out of the mainstream on global warming and clean energy, but he won't be the last.”
