Massive Opposition to Upton's Anti-EPA Bill in Key Districts

10 Feb 2011  |   Damien Shirley

This morning, NRDC released their polling from nine key Congressional districts on Rep.Fred Upton's bill to prevent the EPA from regulating carbon pollution.

All of the Representatives in question are members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee who "sponsored, co-sponsored or publicly indicated their support" for Rep. Upton's bill or similar legislation.

As such, none of the polls are good news for those Representatives. 62% of Rep. Upton's constituents oppose his anti-EPA bill and 67% say "Congress should let the EPA do its job." There are similar numbers from the eight other districts polled:

  • Rep. Bono Mack (R-CA): 56% oppose Upton bill, 59% say let EPA do its job.
  • Rep. Gardner (R-CO): 61% oppose Upton bill, 66% say let EPA do its job.
  • Rep. Kinzinger (R-IL): 66% oppose Upton bill, 72% say let EPA do its job.
  • Rep. Bass (R-NH): 64% oppose Upton bill, 67% say let EPA do its job.
  • Rep. Lance (R-NJ): 72% oppose Upton bill, 74% say let EPA do its job.
  • Rep. Doyle (D-PA): 73% oppose Upton bill, 74% say let EPA do its job.
