Earlier today, the New Jersey Assembly voted 44 to 34 to keep New Jersey in the groundbreaking Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).
The New Jersey Senate passed a similar bill on Monday. The legislation now goes to Governor Christie’s desk where he is expected to veto it.
These developments are a strong rebuke of Gov. Christie, who announced his intent to end New Jersey’s involvement in the climate program late last month.
The Koch brothers’ Americans for Prosperity spent nearly $250,000 lobbying Gov. Christie to pull his state out of RGGI.
