New Study Finds Wind and Solar Create Michigan Jobs

23 Mar 2011  |   Daniel Jacobs

According to the Environmental Law and Policy Center (ELPC), the development of wind and solar industries has created significant growth in Michigan's economy.

In a study (PDF), the ELPC found that Michigan's 120 wind and 121 solar companies have produced over 10,000 jobs in the state.

Additionally, the development of Michigan's clean energy industry has exponentially increased the state's renewable energy capacity, which grew from roughly 20 megawatts in 2009, to nearly 300 megawatts in 2010, and a projected 680 megawatts in 2011.

The substantial leaps in Michigan's renewable energy industry demonstrate the enourmously positive impact that clean energy has on both the state and national economies.
