A new poll released Friday shows once again that the overwhelming majority of Americans stand behind science. According to the latest Ipsos poll of 1,134 adults, 83% of respondents agreed that climate change is occurring—up from 75% of Americans who said climate change was real in 2010.
This consensus existed across the political spectrum, with 72% of Republicans and 92% of Democrats agreeing that climate change was real. Additionally, 71% of Americans recognize that human activity has contributed to climate change to some degree.
The poll comes on the heels of a Bloomberg National Poll, which found that Americans are less likely to vote for a political candidate that is anti-science and reflects a July 12 poll that found 71% of Americans believe the President should make climate change a priority.
