Voters in Michigan's 1st District Support Ending Oil Handouts

17 Nov 2011  |   Mike Palamuso

A new Public Policy Polling survey, conducted on behalf of LCV, finds that that 66% of voters polled in Michigan's first congressional district think that tax breaks for oil companies should be eliminated with only 19% in support of maintaining them. Additionally, voters in the district overwhelmingly think the EPA should require power plants and cement factories to reduce carbon and mercury emissions -- 65% of voters support that with only 25% opposed. LCV has recently run TV ads in the districts urging constituents to contact Rep. Dan Benishek and tell him to stop voting for oil industry handouts.
