The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Victory Fund and Priorities USA Action today launched a hard-hitting television ad campaign in key presidential swing states highlighting Mitt Romney’s pledge to protect Big Oil’s profits and billions in special tax breaks at the expense of middle class Americans.

“With Governor Romney promising to keep the oil industry’s taxpayer-funded handouts, it’s not surprising that Big Oil is spending big money to protect its big subsidies,” said Gene Karpinski, President of the League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund. “Romney has whole-heartedly embraced an industry that is profiting twice off Americans: once at the pump and again when we pay our taxes.”

Romney’s stance on the issues:

  • Romney has vowed to protect billions in taxpayer-funded subsidies for Big Oil.
  • Romney would eliminate investments in clean energy technologies.
  • Romney has rejected the overwhelming scientific consensus on climate change.
  • Romney opposes EPA efforts to curb harmful carbon pollution.
